The open source 3D modeling software Blender (ideal for creating 3D configurators), a popular alternative to expensive solutions like Maya or 3ds Max, faces a certain delay in its release plan for Blender 2.80 – however, the developers intend to release the final version early next year 2019.
In the following video, Eevee & Much More give an overview of the new version:
The developers had hoped to have a full beta version ready in August 2018, but that doesn’t look like a possibility either – the team spent most of the time “improving” the current features and fixing current bugs in the software. On August 13th Blender 2.80 Alpha was released.
Since the first alpha release of Blender 2.80 in July last year, the Grease Pencil tool has been introduced, with which Blender can also be used as complete 2D and 3D animation software.
The Blender team hopes to meet this planning and release schedule:
- Here you can download the new Blender version.
- At the end of October the complete 2.80 Beta version was presented at the Blender conference.
- The final version is scheduled for release in early 2019.
- In 2019 versions 2.81, 2.82 … will be released for functions that could not be implemented in the first version yet.
And they will focus on the following points in the coming weeks:
- Tool system and Gizmos.
- Subdivision Surfaces and Multi-Resolution Modifiers with Pixar`s OpenSubdiv.
- Polishing of the upper bar, the status bar, the tool settings and the corresponding user interfaces.
- Evee and viewport support for more GPUs and small new features.
- Production-ready static overloads replace the proxy system.
- Modifiers in edit mode.
- Standard workspaces and environment plans
I hope that we could give them a first short overview of the new Blender version. In further contributions we will go deeper into this topic.
Thank you very much for your visit.
