version Zappar Studio

Zappar, a leading global developer of augmented reality experiences and creative tools, today announced the launch of a number of new features for its AR content creation platform, ZapWorks Studio, which provides brands, agencies and independent developers with a single point of access for developing immersive augmented, virtual and mixed reality experiences.

This new update is our most impressive release yet and makes ZapWorks Studio one of the most versatile and scalable AR platforms on the market. It continues our mission to create the most accessible, affordable and feature-rich toolkit for AR creators around the world,” said Caspar Thykier, CEO and co-founder of Zappar.

ZapWorks Studio 6 develops the final iteration of the software, which primarily lowers the entry barrier by enabling creatives without programming skills to create interactive short-form content for mobile devices and aims to put more power and functionality into the hands of the creative community. This level of control means that AR creators can build the widest possible range of fully customizable AR experiences without compromising speed or ease of use.

Notable new features include:

  • World Tracking – In addition to superior image tracking, ZapWorks Studio 6 gives AR developers even more creative freedom by adding World Tracking based on ARKit & ARCore.
  • Beta Mobile WebAR Support – The Mobile WebAR support for ZapWorks Studio is now available in open beta. Zappar is putting the technology through its paces, while the browser support is being further improved. In the long run, the mobile WebAR will help to bypass the perceived user friction of an app download and the associated installation time while maintaining the important access to first-party data.
  • Face Tracking – Studio now supports powerful computer vision face tracking algorithms that allow AR developers to create more expressive face tracking experiences using ZapWorks Studio’s new integrated interface.
  • Sketchfab Integration –Access Sketchfab’s extensive library of over two million 3D models, figures, scenes and environments directly in ZapWorks Studio. Thanks to Zappar’s support of the glTF 3D model format, creative professionals can search and import selected models quickly and reliably.

Alban Denoyel, CEO of Sketchfab, commented on the new Sketchfab integration: “Sketchfab’s mission has always been to make it as easy as possible to find, publish and share 3D content with the world, as Zappar, as one of our key partners, extends this mission into the world of AR“.

Thousands of creative professionals already use ZapWorks Studio to create AR experiences that engage audiences and enhance their mobile app brand strategy – from small businesses and creative agencies to major brands like the BBC and Oath.

Peter Maddalena, director at VRCraftworks, added: “ZapWorks Studio has become an indispensable tool for us to create engaging AR content for our clients – and to turn their products, campaigns and ideas into interactive experiences that generate engagement, spontaneous media and financial rewards. With each studio upgrade, we’re better equipped with the strategic tools to deliver quality experiences while positioning ourselves as innovative and future-oriented for our clients – a win-win situation.”
