In the following article, we would like to explain step by step (the explanation would be easier with a 3D configurator) how you can successfully put your PlayStation VR into operation.
Virtual Reality (VR) is finally mainstream with impressive headsets like the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and of course the PlayStation VR, which are now available from a number of retailers. The world of VR is undoubtedly very exciting, but the setup process makes things a bit complicated. It’s quite complex to be able to assign the different cables correctly.
PlayStation VR Checklist.
This article makes sense because Sony’s PlayStation VR box doesn’t contain all the components you need to play PlayStation VR.
In fact, the standard package does not even include the PlayStation camera, which is essential for PSVR use. In summary, you’ll find everything you need to play PlayStation VR games here.
- PlayStation VR Bundle (headset, processor unit, headphones, HDMI cable, USB cable, power adapter and cable, PSVR headset connection adaptor)
- PlayStation Camera
- PlayStation 4/PlayStation 4 Pro
- PlayStation Controller x2 (optional)
- Sony Dualshock 4 Controller
How to set up your PlayStation VR.
The first thing you should notice when opening the PlayStation VR box is how many components there are – and that doesn’t include the PlayStation 4, PlayStation camera or Move Batons, all of which are available separately. It’s important to get started first.
Identify the Processing Unit (Black Box) and slide the cover so that the rear connectors are visible. Take the supplied HDMI cable and plug it into the HDMI output of your PS4 and plug the other end into the connector on the processor unit labeled “HDMI PS4”. Connect the second HDMI cable to your TV while the other end is connected to the “HDMI TV” connector on the processor unit.
Locate the supplied USB cable and plug the micro-USB side (small side) into the back of the processor unit. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on the PS4 – note that the PS4 Pro has an additional USB port on the back, ideal for use with the PSVR.
Connect the AC power adapter to the processor unit and plug it into a wall outlet.
Locate the VR headset connecting cable and plug the VR headset connecting cable into the front of the processor unit, making sure the symbols match to achieve correct alignment. Plug the VR headset into the other end of the connecting cable and make sure that the symbols of the cable and the corresponding port match again.
Now the VR headset is connected, the next step is to connect the PlayStation camera (not supplied). Connect the PlayStation camera cable to the appropriate connector on the back of the PS4 and place the camera on or immediately above the TV, taking care not to obstruct the view of the room.
Now that all components are connected to your PS4, it’s time to turn on the console. After switching on, follow the instructions on the screen to configure your gaming area and complete the initial installation of the VR system.
Once this is done, you should be ready to play in VR. If you purchased Move Batons, simply connect the supplied USB cable to the PS4 and each Baton and press the PlayStation button to connect them.
You’ve successfully set up your PlayStation VR and now nothing stands in the way of great VR experiences.
