When Oculus Link is released in November, users will be able to play SteamVR games like No Man`s Sky on their Oculus Quest.
Facebook has introduced this new feature on Oculus Connect 6. The free update allows you to play rift games with the Oculus Quest when you connect the headset to a VR capable PC with a USB-C cable. During his keynote speech, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that “all” rift games could run on the headset in this way. However, there was still some uncertainty as to whether this meant just games in Oculus’ own store or also titles in Valve’s competing Steam Store.
Quest can also run Steam content via link. If the Quest is connected to a PC with Oculus Link, the headset can be operated in the same way as the Rift.
If that’s the case, Quest opens up not only to hundreds of apps in the Oculus Store, but also to all Rift-compatible games that are also available through Steam.
This includes high-profile releases such as Bethesda`s Skyrim VR and Hello Games No Man Sky Beyond. However, we were not able to try this option when we tried Link at Connect yesterday.
However, Facebook has made sure that developers will be able to unsubscribe from Link at Connect if they wish to do so.
Unofficially, Quest users can already boot up a reversed version of the Virtual Desktop VR productivity app and then access Steam-based VR content using the PC streaming feature. However, Link may provide a more stable way to do this. It simply needs to be connected to a PC.
Thank you for your visit.
